September 2026 Minutes

MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF SCOTTON PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON THURSDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER AT 6PM AT SCOTTON VILLAGE HALL

1) PRESENT – Cllr S Walker (Clerk and RFO), Cllr R Walker (Chair), Cllr Y Huddleston, Cllr H Alexander and County Cllr C Reeve

2) PUBLIC SESSION – No members of the public present

3) APOLOGIES – Cllr J Deville, Cllr K Ibbeson and District Cllr K Carless

4) DISTRICT/COUNTY COUNCILLORS – County Cllr Reeve made the following points.

a) A complaint has been received from a parishioner regarding the state of the path running from Scotton to Scotter. The parishioner needs to negotiate the path whilst pushing a person in a wheelchair and finds that the path, in places, is not wide enough. This problem has been reported before resulting in some of the grass verge being removed/pushed back but obviously, for some, this is still inadequate. Clerk to report via Fix My Street.

b) It was also mentioned that both Crapple Lane and the junction of High Street/Westgate need attention. Cllr Reeve stated that a new compound was now being used for repairs (Hot Slurry). This has been proved to be much longer lasting than previous repairs. To be reported by the Clerk via Fix My Street.

c) Cllr Reeve pointed out that LCC will not consider repairing any damage of less than 20mm (Footpath) and 40mm on a road.

d) Regarding the re-organisation of councils which is still ongoing, the proposed formation of a Lincoln City Council may incur problems for the rest of the county regarding where the main hospital will be located and whether the rubbish incinerator at North Hykeham will still be available for use.

e) LCC are pushing ahead with a booking system at rubbish tips. Cllr Reeve stated that, as well as bookings on the internet, a phone number would be available for people wishing to use that method.

11) PENFOLD UPDATE – The plants in the planters had been well received by parishioners.

12) ORCHARD UPDATE – Some of the fruit trees had been lost over the summer, probably due to the hot weather. It was decided not to replace them.
