MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF SCOTTON PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON THURSDAY 2nd APRIL 2026 AT 6PM IN SCOTTON VILLAGE HALL

 

1) PRESENT – Cllr R Walker (Chair), Cllr H Alexander, Cllr Y Huddleston, Cllr K Ibbeson, District Cllr K Carless 

 

2) APOLOGIES – Cllr S Walker & County Councillor C Reeve

3) CHAIRS OPENING REMARKS – Cllr R Walker opened the meeting at 6pm

4) PUBLIC SESSION – No public present

5) REPORTS FROM COUNTY/DISTRICT COUNCILLORS – Cllr Carless stated that the local government reorganisation is still ongoing with a clearer picture expected to emerge in July 2026.

The route of the proposed hydrogen pipeline is still ongoing and no further information is available currently.

 

6) DECLARATION OF INTEREST/S – Remain unchanged

7) MINUTES OF THE PARISH COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON THE 5TH of MARCH 2026 – The minutes were accepted as a true and accurate record of the proceeding

 

8) FINANCE – No reply from Grant White about the cost of the bleed kits. Cllr S Walker to chase up.

The following payments were agreed by the councillors: -

Insurance – Payment of £270.16

Mr Williams -Payment of £220

Grants            - Scotton PCC £1,000

                             Village Hall £6,800 (£5,000 playground & £1,800 Grass   

                             Cutting)

Audit               - A budget of £285/300 was agreed for the auditor

 

9) VILLAGE HALL UPDATE – The village hall AGM was held on 27th March and the treasurer, Mr Schofield, thanked the Parish Council for their financial help over the last year.

Refurbishment of the playground is due to commence on 13th April and to last approximately 10 days.

 

10) PENFOLD UPDATE – Conifers still require moving            

11) ORCHARD UPDATE – Plum trees x 2 planted

12) PARISH COUNCIL NOTICE BOARDS – Following a request from a parishioner regarding the notice board on Westfield, councillors have been asked to examine the board, and a decision will be made at the next meeting as to whether it remains or is removed.

The notice board on Westgate will remain for essential notices only.

13) RESIGNATION OF COUNCILLOR SIDDALL – Due to moving out of the area, Cllr Siddall has resigned and the relevant papers have been forwarded to WLDC. The vacancy is now advertised.

 

14) COUNCILLORS REPORTS – No reports

 

15) ANY OTHER BUSINESS – Cllr Alexander commented on the Westgate road sign which appears to be badly corroded. To be reported

                          WESTGATE DOG BIN – Handle missing. To be reported
