Class 1 - Who we are and what we do

Scotton Parish Council looks after:-

  • the allotment sites including Community Orchard and Recreation Area
  • benches
  • Pinfold planters,plaque and village gateway
  • Repurposed BT kiosk currently converted to a book/DVD library
  • Speed Indicator Sign
  • maintenance of the live Christmas tree at the village hall.
  • grass cutting & low level maintenance in the village
  • reporting of defects on the Highway
  • Defibrillator checks and replacement of parts
  • Comments on planning applications which effect the parish.
  • Noticeboards – Highstreet and Westfield
  • Administers and sets the Parish precept, allocating Grant Awards from this for the benefit of the Community. As the lowest level of government, it seeks to listen to the community; all elected members of the Council are residents of the parish.

The Parish Council holds reserves for capital projects and emergencies. The precept is spent on maintenance in the village, insurance, annual grant awards to village groups.  We maintain items such as seats and two village noticeboards.  This list is not exhaustive.
