The Scotton Neighbourhood Plan has been created by the residents of Scotton for the benefit of the village. It seeks to protect and preserve the village. If the plan is adopted, it will become a legal document that Planning Authorities must take note of when making decisons about the village.

The Scotton Neighbourhood Plan has reached the Referendum stage. Reaching this stage of the process means that residents are given the opportunity to vote on whether to accept the plan, or not. If over 50% of residents choose to accept it, the plan is submitted to West Lindsey District Council for adoption. Once the plan is adopted by West Lindsey District Council, it must form part of the decision-making process on planning applications in the parish.

Due to Covid-19, the referendum has been postponed until Spring 2021. Fortunately, due to recent government legislation, Neighbourhood Plans that have reached this stage carry weight and so must be referred to by the planning authority. Therefore, the Parish Council has been able to use the current plan when commenting on recent planning applications.

Adopting the plan gives residents the opportunity to have a say in how the village develops.  It is an ongoing process as the plan will need reviewing and adapting over the coming years.

If you would be interested in becoming involved in the ongoing plan's development, please contact the Parish Clerk for further information.
